The evening magic of the Byron and Risorgimento Museums is winning over the hearts of increasing numbers of visitors: since 2 July, the first date on which ‘Mosaico di Notte’ opened the doors of the two museums, the number of people registered for the Wednesday evening visits has been growing steadily, so much so that, by the third event, the Municipal Tourist Office decided to organize a double tour in Italian to accommodate everyone, in addition to the English-language tour that usually closes the evening.
On Wednesday evening, 1 August, many visitors arrived punctually at 7:45 PM, and after enjoying an aperitif at Bar L’Incontro under the charming portico of Palazzo Guiccioli, headed to the entrances of the Museums, accompanied by specialist guides. For the people of Ravenna, Romagna, and Emilia who are spending their holidays at home, and for foreign tourists, the visit to the Museums represents an important opportunity for cultural enrichment as well as a captivating experience without borders, where the value of the relics and documents in the Museums and the richness of their interactive and multimedia storytelling are combined with the extraordinary international appeal and global visibility the Museums continue to enjoy thanks to many institutional visits—both Italian and foreign—already announced for next autumn.
In this sense, the group photo on the entrance steps next to the commemorative plaque of the visit of the British Royals on 10 April is a particularly significant way of sharing with the world the extraordinarily monumental and cultural wealth of Ravenna and Italy.
The success of the initiative has led Mirella Falconi Mazzotti, President of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna, to decide to extend the guided evening visits into the first week of September, also in preparation for the numerous institutional and cultural events awaiting the Byron and Risorgimento Museums starting from 5 September and continuing throughout the period leading up to the first anniversary of the Museums on 29 November, 2025, and beyond.
“We are particularly pleased,” said Mirella Falconi Mazzotti, President of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna, “that not only tourists but also a great number of citizens from Ravenna, Romagna, and Emilia have chosen to dedicate their Wednesday evenings to visiting our Museums, which have been so strongly desired, created, and supported by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna. For us, this achievement confirms the importance of this significant project and its extraordinary ability to create connections with the city’s other historical and cultural treasures, that is, to make Ravenna more and more a cultural capital and an attractive destination over several days – capable not only of fascinating and winning over visitors but also of retaining them, making them return, and turning them into ambassadors of the beauty and cultural richness of a place that is increasingly loved and sought after at an international level.”
