The Byron and Risorgimento Museums are set to experience a month of special attention and curiosity worldwide in April, as they will be the focus of the visits to Ravenna by two Heads of State: the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and King Charles III of England with Queen Camilla. But media attention on the Museums of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna, chaired by Mirella Falconi Mazzotti, is already very high, as demonstrated by the extensive report published first in the digital edition and then in print by Kleine Zeitung, Austria’s third-largest newspaper by circulation and top of the list among the country’s regional newspapers.
Titled “The Golden Splendour of Ravenna”, Adolf Winkler’s article starts from Justinian and Theodora and reaches the present day with Riccardo and Cristina Muti, recalls Lord Byron’s endless love—not only for Countess Teresa but also for the golden mosaics that also captivated Gustav Klimt—and Italy’s struggle for freedom from foreign oppressors, the Risorgimento. The original vision of Antonio Patuelli has led today to the parallel creation of the two Museums, Byron and Risorgimento, connected by Byron’s story and deeply shared ideals and contents.
After featuring widely in the English-language press—from The Guardian to The Times—and receiving coverage in Spanish and South American media, and making their way across Europe through the most prestigious outlets, the Byron and Risorgimento Museums, already a daily destination for hundreds of visitors, tourists, scholars, and school groups from all over the world, are once again under the spotlight of the international press. There is widespread anticipation of the major event that will bring worldwide attention to the Byron and Risorgimento Museums on April 10.
