There are exactly 100 days to go until the official inauguration of the Byron and Risorgimento Museum, and already international attention for this very important event is very high.
The hundred-day countdown to the inauguration, starting today, will be punctuated by a series of events in preparation for the big event. The first of these events, on July 25th, is the inauguration of the exhibition “ByronContemporaneo,” a collection of photographs by Giampiero Corelli.
Ravenna is now officially the headquarters of the Italian Byron Society, affiliated with the prestigious International Association of Byron Societies, which promotes the dissemination of Byronic scholarship worldwide by organizing conferences, debates, events, exhibitions, scholarships, and any other initiative aimed at raising awareness of the English poet’s life and works. Ravenna thus becomes the Italian capital of these studies, and its official headquarters will be Palazzo Guiccioli, which hosted the poet and witnessed the creation of some of his most important works between 1819 and 1821. Starting October 26, the Palazzo will also house the Byron Museum.
On April 19, the doors of Palazzo Guiccioli, closed for decades, will finally open for the first time. This is one of Ravenna’s most important and grand historic residences.
