The Byron and Risorgimento Museums continue to attract growing attention from the international press, and are increasingly sought-after destinations for tourists from all over the world, both Anglophone and beyond.
Today, a delegation of British journalists and correspondents, organized by Apt Servizi Emilia Romagna in collaboration with the Tourist Office of Ravenna, visited the Museums dedicated to the great British Romantic poet Lord Byron and to the Italian Risorgimento.
The visit was led by Mirella Falconi Mazzotti, President of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna, Alberta Fabbri, Director of the Museums, and Diego Saglia, Vice President of the Italian Byron Society and Full Professor of English Literature at the University of Parma.
The journalists were fascinated by the beauty of the rooms and captivated by the modern multimedia narratives dedicated to Byron and the Risorgimento. They repeatedly asked to be provided with deeper information on some of the Museum’s treasures – from the precious first editions to the Byronic memorabilia carefully collected by Teresa Guiccioli and preserved to this day.
Professor Saglia was extraordinarily engaging in explaining both the significance of the items on display and the emotional experience he shared with Queen Camilla, on the occasion of the visit that took place over a month ago, on April 10, an event that continues to fascinate visitors to Ravenna.
Saglia shared with the smiling and applauding visitors an anecdote about the Queen’s desire to visit more rooms than the strict itinerary allowed. This, however, was prevented by the English ceremonial and security staff, who invited her to reverse her route and head towards the exit, where King Charles, returning from his visit to San Vitale, was already waiting for her .
