The State visit of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla was a tremendously successful moment in the relations between the United Kingdom and Italy. The event at the Byron and Risorgimento Museums highlighted the strong cultural ties that have historically united our countries and continue to do so today.”
This is the opening of the thank-you letter—formal but above all heartfelt and sincere—written by the British Ambassador to Italy, Lord Edward David Gerard Llewellyn, to Mirella Falconi Mazzotti, President of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna. The letter comes at the conclusion of a long period that has seen the planning, development, and successful realization of the Royal Visit to the museum dedicated to the great British Romantic poet on April 10.
“The crucial support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna, under your presidency,” continues Lord Llewellyn, “along with the governance and the entire staff, was fundamental in ensuring the success of the initiative. I wish to express my warmest thanks for your promptness and willingness to welcome organizational requests with enthusiasm and a proactive spirit.”
Less than six months after its inauguration on November 29, the Byron and Risorgimento Museums have already hosted among their prestigious visitors, in addition to Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Camilla, the Vice President of the European Commission Raffaele Fitto, the Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, and important figures from the world of culture and entertainment such as Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, Antonio Caprarica, Gianni Morandi, and Claudio Martelli.
Of course, this is just the beginning for the museums conceived by the President of the Cassa di Ravenna Antonio Patuelli and later realized by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna, chaired successively by Lanfranco Gualtieri, Ernesto Giuseppe Alfieri, and Mirella Falconi Mazzotti.
On May 18, a prestigious delegation of British journalists, coordinated by Apt Servizi Emilia Romagna in collaboration with the Tourist Office of the City of Ravenna, will visit the Museums. Among the British reporters will be Emma Cook of The Observer and Alex Salakis of The Times. And another prestigious international visit is already on the horizon…
