The Byron and Risorgimento Museums, together with the Doll and Other Toys Museum, were inaugurated on Friday, 29 November 2024, in the presence of all the authorities from Ravenna and the region, as well as numerous citizens who wished to be part of this extraordinary day.
At the Alighieri Theatre, which hosted the first part of the inauguration, speeches were given by Ernesto Giuseppe Alfieri, President of the Italian Byron Society and of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna, who strongly wanted, conceived, and realized the Museums; Michele de Pascale, President of the Emilia-Romagna Region and former Mayor of Ravenna; Antonio Patuelli, President of the Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna and creator of the Museums; Professor Sandro Rogari, Professor of Contemporary History and former Rector of the University of Florence; and Diego Saglia, Professor of English Literature at the University of Parma and Vice President of the Italian Byron Society.
Also present at the inauguration were Professor Cosimo Ceccuti and Senator Stefania Craxi, representing the Fondazione Spadolini Nuova Antologia and the Fondazione Craxi, which provided their important collections for the Risorgimento Museum.
Around 500 people attended the presentation of the Museums, then moved to Palazzo Guiccioli for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the official opening of the Museums.
